Agricultural contaminants associated with historical and expanding horticulture in northern NSW
My PhD research investigates the effect of agricultural land use change on downstream sediment quality. Using chemical tracers along sediment cores we can detect changes in the accumulation patterns of chemicals associated with agricultural activities, such as fertiliser nutrients, trace metals, and pesticides. Sediment cores are also dated with 210-Pb to validate chronologies of pollutants and associate contamination history with documented human activities.
